چکیده

In the present investigation the effect of cobalt chloride (CoCl ), ethylene biosynthesis inhibitor and 2 silver nitrate (AgNO ), ethylene perception inhibitor was studied on the seed germination of Vigna radiata. 3 While ethylene slightly promoted germination, both the inhibitors decreased the germination percentage. However, Ag was more effective in retarding germination than Co . A combined treatment with silver nitrate 2+ 2+ and cobalt chloride overcame inhibition with reference to silver nitrate treatment, whereas it was almost without effect compared to the treatment with cobalt chloride alone. Ethylene treatment could somewhat rescue germination from inhibition by Ag but was ineffective in case of Co . Abscisic acid (ABA) caused a lower 2+ 2+ germination percentage at a very high concentration. Ethylene treatment following ABA treatment showed rescue effect to some extent on germination of Vigna radiata seeds.

Inhibition of Seed Germination By Propyl Gallate, A Free Radical Scavenger and Recovery of Germination By Hydrogen Peroxide and Ethylene in Vigna Radiata

In the present investigation, effect of propyl gallate, a free radical scavenger, was studied on germination of Vigna radiata seeds to verify the role of active oxygen species in the regulation of seed germination. Propyl gallate inhibited germination and such inhibition was not due to osmotic effect as verified by the treatment with sucrose solution of similar concentrations. Treatments were a...

بررسی تأثیر هیدروپرایمینگ و اندازه بذر بر مؤلفه‌های جوانه‌زنی و رشد گیاهچه‌های ماش (Vigna radiata) تحت تنش شوری

In order to evaluate the effect of hydropriming on seed germination of Vigna radiata under salinity stress, an experiment was arranged in a factorial based on a completely randomized design with three replications in the laboratory of the Agricultural College of the University of Ramin Khuzestan. Treatments were salinity stress at 4 levels (0, 3, 6 and 9 Mmhos) and hydro priming at 3 levels (1,...

The Ethylene Receptors ETHYLENE RESPONSE1 and ETHYLENE RESPONSE2 Have Contrasting Roles in Seed Germination of Arabidopsis during Salt Stress1[W][OPEN]

In Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana), ethylene responses are mediated by a family of five receptors that have both overlapping and nonoverlapping roles. In this study, we used loss-of-function mutants for each receptor isoform to determine the role of individual isoforms in seed germination under salt stress. From this analysis, we found subfunctionalization of the receptors in the control of ...

Arsenic Induced Changes in Growth and Physiological Responses in Vigna radiata Seedling: Effect of Curcumin Interaction

Arsenic is a great hazard to the environment since it is a major source of soil and water contamination leading to phytotoxicity. Arsenic caused reduction in seed germination and growth of plants including mung bean (Vigna radiata) causing loss of crop productivity. This investigation evaluates effect of arsenic toxicity in mung bean with an attempt to ameliorate it by the application of curcum...
